Standing Receptive to The First Aspect of Service

In the previous workshop we practiced identifying as Soul within the Ashram and Standing Receptive to The Aspects of Service to The One Life. In this workshop we will begin practicing Standing Receptive to The First Aspect of Service.

Now, the process of invoking and receiving The First Aspect is aided by having some understanding of what that Aspect is. In the previous workshop we described the First Aspect of Synthesis as “Synthetic Purpose, Power and Will”. However, it is described in other ways as well, depending on how you relate with it and what it is doing. Basically:

· Synthetic Purpose, Power and will is what it is,

· The Will to Synthesis is what your consciousness experiences, and

· Synthetic Activity is what it Inspires.

In addition, when your intent is to perform your Function in The One Life, it is The First Aspect of Service.

All of these are the same thing, just approached, experienced, or applied somewhat differently.

· Your invocation, the easier it is for The One Life to respond, and

· Your receptivity, the easier it is for you to perceive that response.

Standing Receptive to Your Service

to The One Life[1]

In the previous workshop we practiced identifying as Soul within the Ashram and Invoking our Service to The One Life. In this workshop we will practice Standing Receptive to our Service.

Now, before we develop the ability to identify as Soul, and as Soul identify as an Ashramic Group it is not really possible to perceive our Purpose or Function in The One Life. So long as we remain identified as our separate, individual self we will always:

· Relate with,

· Invoke, and

· Interpret

purpose and function in separate, individual terms.

We automatically ask:

· Who am I?

· Why am I here? And

· What am I here to do?

as an individual. An individual who may live in a greater life, but who experiences their physical, emotional, and mental “self” as separate from that Life.

Invoking Your Service

to The One Life[1]

In the previous workshop we practiced identifying as Soul within the Ashram. In this workshop, we, as Soul, will begin Invoking our Service, as that Ashram, to The One Life.

Now, when we reached the point where we began:

· moving up into the Ashram,

· identifying as Soul within the Ashram, and

· Invoking our Service,

we were still learning to identify as “a” soul, that had a purpose, place, and function in The One Life.

There was nothing wrong with this. It was a part of the progression of spiritual growth made necessary by the various Falls Humanity has experienced in the distant past; particularly those into the Form and into Individuality.

Identifying as Soul

Within the Ashramic Group Life[1]

In the previous post we practiced moving up into the Ashram and recognizing our Purpose, Place, and Function in the Ashram.

Now, we performed this technique at this point in order to fix that goal in our awareness.

As we mentioned, we actually realize our Purpose, Place, and Function in The One Life via Service to that Life. However, in order to discover what our particular Service is, we have to perform some type of inner and outer Service.

This is a bit like trying to get a job that requires experience when no one will hire you because you do not have any experience.

Identifying as Your Purpose, Place,

and Function in The Ashram

In the previous post, we recognized that, as Soul, our Purpose, Place, and Function within The One Life is shared by all Humanity. Just as Humanity as a whole is the planetary organ of conscious creativity. We, as individualized Souls within Humanity, share in that Purpose. Thus, each and all of us are (as Soul) conscious creators within The One Planetary Life.

However, our conscious creative service to that Life remains a mere potential until we recognize that we are Soul, and:

Realize our Purpose,

Move into our Place, and

Take up our Function

Identifying as the Conscious Soul

Incarnate Within The body of Humanity

In the previous post, we began reversing the process of descent into form by learning to Identify as the “I”dentity sounding within:

· everything we have been,

· that we are,

· all humanity,

· all the Kingdoms of Nature, and

· The One Planetary Life.

This is a very general identification technique, designed and intended to help us move out of the restricting illusion of separate, individual awareness. That individual awareness is not only isolated, it is isolating. It creates the illusion that we are all alone in the world, that everyone else is as separate as we are, and that the only way to relate with others is through our forms.

Each Time You Think “I”

As we’ve discussed, everything that exists, in order to exist, must be three things. In a human being, these three are:

· Spirit (the source of Inspiration, Motivation, and Direction),

· Soul (the source of awareness or “I”dentity), and

As human beings, we describe ourselves as Soul that has Spirit and Substance or Motivation and Form. This is correct, but it is a bit narrow as it focuses on human beings as we are now.

The New Path of Service

Humanity is the creative organ of The One Planetary Life.

In order to understand the Path of Service to The One Life it helps to understand the “classic” path of spiritual growth and development. That classic path was a response to The Fall of Humanity into form.

The Humanity of any planetary life is that life’s organ of conscious creativity. That is, it is the Purpose and Function of that Humanity to create the archetypal:

· Ideas,

· Mental forms,

· Astral forms and,

· vital forms

through which that planet will realize its Purpose.

To be clear, Humanity is responsible for creating the archetypes of those various forms. For instance, they would Sound the creative Word of Trees, thereby creating the archetypal forms of trees. Those archetypes are the first or primary Devas of those trees. Those primary devas then produce lesser versions of themselves who are responsible for creating multiple expressions of those archetypes, and for directing the elementals who create and nurture the outer forms of trees. [1]

However, in order to create those archetypes on those planes Humanity must have an instrument capable of acting as the vehicle of The Soul throughout that creative process. This means that before a planetary humanity can perform its full Function, it must complete creating that instrument.

Invoking the Power of the Indwelling One Soul

What the One Soul is

The One Soul is The Soul of The Planetary Life. It is, and has always been aware of and as:

· Divine Purpose, Power, and Will,

· Itself, and

Appropriating the Quality of The One Soul

Most of The Soul of The One Life remains at-one with that Life.

We were at-one with that Life before our first Fall. The fragment of Soul which is our Self has been separated from The One Soul ever since.

Up to now, the whole of the Spiritual Path has been an attempt to return to that at-one-ment. After tremendous effort over many incarnations some of us succeeded in reuniting with The One. Such reunions are of benefit to that Life, as it reduces the ocean of Fallen which burdens The One. However, no matter how beneficial, reducing the burden does not fulfill our Purpose.

Including the Entire Consciousness

In the beginning of this work, we learned to integrate the body, emotions, and mind into a single unit which was sensitive to, aware of, and responsive to The Soul. This integrative process was necessary, but that aspect of the work does not stop there.

The Overshadowing Spiritual Soul projects fragments of itself into incarnation at various times and in various ways. In addition, Kingdoms within The One Planetary Life also experience incarnation within Humanity, and Humanity within those Kingdoms. [1] As part of the reintegration of The One Life, all these fragments or sparks of Soul must be reunited with The Spiritual Soul before that Soul can complete its process of Union with Divine Purpose and Substance, becoming thereby an integrated, fully-at-one trinity of Spirit/Soul/Substance.

The various fragments that must eventually be reunited include the:

· human soul,

· animal soul, and

· somewhat of the Soul of the plant and mineral kingdoms as well.

Chapter 105

Every Individual is a Vehicle of the Planetary Life [1]

The Fall into matter created the perception of separation. This separation is sometimes described as opposing polarities or polar opposites. It creates a perception and identification as “like” and “not like” that the incarnate consciousness automatically applies to everything.

This automatic perception of polar separation includes those who identify themselves as being “On The Path” of Spiritual Growth and Development. As a result, even those who identify themselves as being on The New Path automatically consider everyone who is not consciously identified with The Synthetic Path as being separate from it.

This is a classic illusion.

Chapter 104

Developing your Service Alignment[1]

Your primary tool as a World Server is your Alignment, the line of light between you as Soul, The One Life, and those you Serve. That alignment is:

· As The Soul in The Cave,

· Upward through the Head Center, past the Divine Light Center, to the Ashramic Center, [2]

· Within The Ashramic Center to an Ashramic Group,

· As that Ashramic Group downward to The Cave,

· Outward from The Cave to and through the Ajna,

· To whatever group and/or condition you are working with, and

· Directly back up from that group/condition with The Ashram.

The resulting triangular alignment is the basis of your inner work. You use various forms of it in all your work, including:

· Discovering and taking up your Purpose, Place, and Function,

· Manifesting the Divine Plan,

· Adjusting conditions of Dis-ease and misrelationship,

· Formulating and Sounding Laws of Synthesis,

and much, much, more.

Now, developing your Service Alignment requires regular, consistent effort. This is generally done in a step-by-step fashion, beginning with:

· Relaxing the physical body,

· Calming the emotions,

· Focusing and Clarifying the mind,

· Becoming aware of, receptive to, and identifying as Soul, and

· Moving into The Cave in the center of the head.

You will note that this is exactly what we have been doing in the first two volumes of the Workshop. As we’ve indicated before, those volumes are designed to prepare you for Service to The One Life.

This and the following volumes, however, are designed help you discover and take up that Service.

Developing Your Practitioner Alignment

The following is a practice exercise for developing your Service alignment. It should be performed on a regular basis until the larger awareness becomes automatic.

Become physically relaxed and comfortable; emotionally calm and serene; mentally poised and alert. Focus the consciousness in the ajna center, and integrate the total per­sonality by sounding the OM.

Upon a line of light, withdraw the focus of consciousness in the ajna cen­ter into the Cave in the center of the head, and identify as The Soul.

Lift that focus of consciousness from the Cave into the Head Center and identify as The Soul by meditating upon the seed–thought:

‘‘I am the Soul.’’

As you identify as The Soul, realize that this thing that sits here and calls itself ‘‘I’’ is an aggregate of many ‘‘I’’s.

Then expand the lower sphere of your awareness by including within it the totality of that group life (all the consciousness which is imprisoned within your persona’s forms, plus that of all the kingdoms in nature which meet within you).

Realize that this sphere of awareness is in the process of synthesizing all the consciousness within it into that of the One Life in which you “live and move and have your being”.

Then expand the upper half of your sphere of awareness by including within it the totality of that group consciousness above the surface of your awareness.

When you have attained to this Soul-identification, realize that every other so-called individual with whom you come in contact is also a group; and that as you relate to that individual, you must do so as a group with a group; that right relationship manifests as brotherhood because the totality of each group is brought into rapport in love, so to speak, with each other.

You are now ready to meditate.

Meditation Techniques

For your convenience, we are including not only new techniques, but also listing those that are ongoing, potential, and/or optional.

As a new assignment, please perform the “Developing Your Practitioner Alignment” technique for the following week.

If you have been performing the “Taking Your Stand with The Forces of Light” technique until we replace it another” technique, you may discontinue it now.

As a continuing assignment, as soon as you are ready, begin practicing the twelve-month lunar-cycle technique (from Workshop 94) on a daily basis. Once you begin, continue practicing this technique, from lunar cycle to lunar cycle, for twelve lunar months.

As an ongoing assignment, continue practicing the See-la-Aum technique (from Workshop 91) on a daily basis.

As an ongoing assignment, set aside time, during your normal life and affairs, to hold the alignment as The Soul in the cave. Choose a routine daily task (such as washing dishes, driving, bathing, etc.) that lasts at least ten minutes. Every time you begin that task, think and say “I”, and attempt to hold your identification as The Soul, aspiring to the Bhodisatva, throughout that task.

Make this alignment exercise a part of your daily life and af­fairs.

As a potential ongoing assignment, continue practicing the technique that precipitates your persona karma.

As an ongoing assignment, practice the nighttime technique every evening as you lay down to sleep. Continue practicing this technique indefinitely (until you move beyond it and begin practicing more “advanced” sleep techniques).

Transmutation Technique: Continue practicing the transmutation technique at least 3 times a week (in addition to your other meditation assignments).

We highly recommend that you continue performing this technique on a regular basis, indefinitely.

In this post we discussed developing your service alignment. In the next post we will discuss becoming a vehicle of The Planetary Life.

What is World Service

Up to now you have been concerned with discovering your Purpose, Place, and Function (as Soul) within The One Life. In the process you have begun realizing that you are Soul. Not only as an abstract theory, but as a waking experience.

This experience is the beginning of an unparalled period of growth. You are gaining a Purpose, Identity, and Work which is new not only to you but to The One Life as well. This period of growth:

· Began when you aligned with and became receptive to the overshadowing Spiritual Soul.

· It continues as you:

o Identify as Spiritual Soul, and

o As Spiritual Soul, identify with and as your Service Group.

Now, at this point it becomes necessary to:

o Discuss what Service Groups are, and

o How to approach, discover, and become a conscious part of your Group.

Chapter 101

How to Become a World Server

It may seem odd to us, given our perspective, but the Soul on its plane is fully aware of its Purpose, Place, and Function. In fact, it is consciously performing its role as best it can. However, as the Creative Aspect of The One Life, The Soul’s ability to serve that Life depends not only on its Awareness of its role, but on its ability to perform the Conscious Creative Process (not only on its plane, but in the three lower worlds as well). That is why we have a three-fold persona instrument.

Thus, becoming aware of your Self as Soul, and as Soul at-oneing with the divine, is only the beginning. It is not the work itself, but preparation for the work.

In order to truly Serve The One Life, The Soul must perform The New Creative Process, The Magic of Synthesis. That Process is how The Soul participates in creating those Buddhic, Mental, Astral, and Vital activities that manifest the Divine Purpose and Plan. Of course, the Soul needs a fully-developed and trained persona in order to do that.
